WINES
From the Sugar Shack
Made the old-fashioned way
The grapes grown along Mountain Road and in Ellington go directly into Worthington's estate wines. When you taste a glass in the Warming House, you are tasting what these vines produced, nothing more, nothing less.

The Winery
Made in the Sugar Shack.
Our winemaking operations are located in the Sugar Shack, a small wooden building at Worthington Pond Farm. Originally built to boil maple sap and produce maple syrup, we converted it into our winery.
Wine making is a process that takes months, if not years, for the wine to properly ferment, clarify, and age to meet our desired flavor profile. The winery is kept at a constant 55 to 60 degrees throughout the year to properly control the aging process.
Bottling takes place once the wine has been aged, filtered, and prepared. Each bottle is corked, labeled, and capped one at a time, by the hands of our winemaking staff and volunteers. We still do it the old-fashioned way.
Cayuga — A versatile white that produces wines ranging from dry to semi-sweet.
Corot Noir — A newer hybrid producing rich, smooth reds with good structure.
Vidal — Known for producing quality whites and late-harvest styles.
Marechal Foch — An early ripening red with intensity and character.
Frontenac Blanc — A cold-hardy white with bright acidity and tropical fruit notes.
Harvest Season
Late September through October.
After a morning of picking and sneaking a few tastes straight off the vine, we crush the grapes and pump the juice into fermentation vats where the process begins. Harvest volunteers stay for lunch and enjoy a glass of Worthington wine at the end of the day. Truly a fun day to see how winemaking begins.
Volunteer at Harvest
Come pick with us.
Harvest at Worthington is a community effort. We invite volunteers each fall to spend a morning in the vineyard, picking fruit by hand alongside our team. You do not need any experience — just a willingness to get outside and be part of something that ends in a bottle of wine.
After picking, the grapes go straight to the Sugar Shack where we crush them and pump the juice into vats to begin fermentation. Volunteers stay for the full morning and enjoy lunch and wine provided by Worthington.
Check the Calendar or join our email list to be the first to know when harvest days are scheduled each fall.
