Worthington maintains over 2000 vines in its main vineyard along Mountain Rd and continues to expand each year, including a small site in Ellington. Our varietals are cold hardy hybrid grapes, which include Chambourcin, Cayuga, Corot Noir, Vidal, Marechel Foch, and Frontenac Blanc grapes.
Harvesting is done in late September through October, with the help of volunteers who want to enjoy a crisp fall morning picking fruit and experiencing the wonder or mother nature’s bounty. After a morning of picking and sneaking of a few tastes of the grapes, we crush the grapes and pump the juice into vats where the fermentation begins. Harvesting volunteers get to enjoy a glass of wine with lunch provided by Worthington. Truly a fun day to see how the process of making wine begins!
